Things got serious this week. I’m so sick of losing and gaining the same five pounds that this week I decided to get focused. Laser focused. And this was my reward:
Starting weight (as of 11/5/12): 169.3
Weight last week: 172.5
Weight this week: 168.7
Result: - 3.8 lbs.
Total net loss: – .6 lbs.
It feels awesome to be back down in the negative and the 160s again. Phew! After following the Kickstart plan the first week of Body Revolution and realizing how good I felt doing that, regardless of whether I was gaining or losing weight, it’s made me realize that I want to eat better (not just less) so that I feel better. I’ve always had this strange disconnect between what I put in my body and how I feel, but I think the lightbulb is starting to finally come on. So, I’m trying to eat as cleanly as possible. If it came out of the ground or has a mother, eat it. If I can’t pronounce it, don’t eat it. I still leave room for occasional treats and allowances, but I’m trying to make better choices and sustainable changes that I can live with for a lifetime. Health and fitness is a marathon of sorts throughout life, not just a sprint to lose x number of pounds, and I think I’m finally starting to make permanent, lasting changes. I’m in the midst of reading Making the Cut (I know I sound like a brainwashed Jillian Michaels follower, but she really knows her stuff and it’s getting me results, people!) which talks about eating for your metabolic type, so I’m trying to hit a ratio of 40% carbs, 30% protein, and 30% fat. I know it all sounds crazy complicated, but it’s really not, and I’m feeling amazing…strong, lean, and energetic. This is Week 4 of Body Revolution, so next Sunday I’ll be taking my measurements…can’t wait to see what changes there are!

Leave a CommentI’m glad you’re feeling better! I am currently leading a session of Lisa Byrne’s Designed for Wellness for my women’s small group at church, and I think you would love it. She teaches it online and has a blog and other resources – including a free book about breaking the sugar habit. Very holistic, not so much weight loss based. And she includes spiritual health in her definition of wellness.

Thanks for the information about Designed for Wellness...I'm definitely going to check it out! Sounds like something that would really be beneficial. Hope you and your crew are well, Katherine (I always still want to call you Kay)! :)

Yay for getting back down to the 160s! I am stuck in a stubborn particular decade myself and it’s DRIVING ME NUTS!
This is the first time I’ve watched The Biggest Loser and Jillian scares the bejeebies out of me! But I can’t fault her- 30 Day Shred totally kicked my butt in a great way.
I’m currently doing the Made To Crave devotion on the YouVersion app and that’s pretty good. I’m on day 4 (today) and so far it’s really good. My epiphany came when I realized I’d put food as the god instead of God. I felt awful once I realized that, but fortunately I got that straightened out. I haven’t finished reading the Made To Crave book, but another book that just kicked my tail that I loved is the book by Candace Cameron Bure. Her book is REALLY good. Like REALLY GOOD.

I LOVE Made to Crave and Reshaping It All! I read both and did the Made to Crave devotion last spring, and they totally changed life, literally. The way I view food, my relationship to it...totally revolutionary, aren't they? Totally made me have an epiphany! I refer back to them all. the. time!

Oh, and are you watching the current season of The Biggest Loser? I went to Cedarville with Mike Dorsey, so I've been following along this year!
