I kinda have a thing for mugs. Which is an oddity, because 1.) hot beverages aren’t my fave, and 2.) I don’t really own that many mugs. I’ve always thought mugs would be a fun thing to collect (my aunt has a mug collection, Husband’s parents always get souvenir mugs when they travel…I figure I come by it honestly), but seeing as how a mug collection would take up an inordinate amount of cabinet space, I’ve refrained from beginning said collection. However, I can’t stop myself from checking out the mugs everywhere we go. So, when Kim started her annual Mug Swap and I heard about it from Susan two years ago, how could I not participate? I mean, who wouldn’t love to get and give a mug?!
So, this was my second year with this gig. Here’s the rundown if you’re unfamiliar with it… You get someone’s name and info,
stalk them find out as much about them as your little heart desires, then pick out something just right and send them a mug! And someone does the same for you. That simple. But oh so much fun!
There really is a mug in there, I promise!
Let’s start with the person I gifted…this year I was so blessed to be matched up with Laura! I knew immediately when I read her About page and she labeled herself a “rebellious conservative” that I had found a kindred spirit! I often find myself feeling too worldly for the Jesus crowd and too Jesus for the non-church folks. AND…hello…she bakes! (There’s a good reason she’s known as Sugar Mama!) She’s quite the photographer, too, I might add. I loved exploring her blog and reading about her love for Peet’s coffee (still wish I could have found her some whole bean, and of course I since found out they’re opening a Peet’s store near me soon), her list-making prowess (I’m a list maker myself), her super amazing kid skills (she runs a daycare. in her house. brave woman!), and her love for the Lord and her family. She’s a gem. Seriously, go get to know her people!
The mug I made for Laura…of course I forgot to take a full-on completed photo!
Then, I was so blessed to be on the receiving end of a super fantastic mug from Teri! It’s always fun to me to see how people will perceive me if they only know me from my blog…what kind of person they see me as if they only know me from my writing. And boy did Teri nail it with this mug! Thanks so very much, Teri!
If you didn’t participate this year, I bet you’re wishing now that you had, aren’t you? :) Don’t worry, next August Kim will do it again. Right, Kim…RIGHT?!?! Hahaha, like now she has a choice! ;)
