Happy 1st Birthday, Bean! We had her party last week, and it's one we'll never forget. Not simply because it was her first, but because practically everything that could have gone wrong, did. At least I have a family that can laugh about it and just enjoy being together, which is really what life is all about anyway, isn't it? As just one example of the snafus that occurred, let's take the birthday supper. The plan was to grill, since I knew I'd be involved with cake preparation and figured this was something that Husband could spearhead. So what happens the instant Husband heads out the back door with the charcoal? You guessed it...rain. So I think to myself, no problem, we'll cook the burgers inside, no big deal. Well, it became a big deal when the power went out. Take out, take out will save the day, I reassure myself! Except the take out place we called didn't have power either. So, we finally found somewhere to go pick up food, and by 9:00 PM, after the Bean had been in bed for nearly an hour and a half, we had her birthday supper. Phew!
