What happened in our bedroom at 3:30 this morning

If the Bug is going to get up in the night, things ususally pan out like this:

Door squeak. Patter of footsteps to the doorway of his bedroom, then: "Mama?" as he waits for me to come to him.

Last night was a little different and went something like this...Door squeak, which woke me up (a mother's ear I tell you...before the Bug was born I was able to, and did, sleep through a hotel fire alarm), then patter of footsteps that didn't stop at his bedroom door. I hear "Mama?" and open my eyes to find the Bug about two inches away from my face. He didn't wait for any response for me, but instead proceded to climb up onto my side of the bed inching me out of the way with his whole body, pull the blanket up under his chin and promptly fall back asleep. I didn't have the heart to move him right away. Once he was nice and limp, I carried him back to his own bed.
